Delivery is with Royal Mail First Class Signed For which usually (95% of parcels) arrives the next working day. If not, then usually the next day after that.
At Christmas time, when resources are a little stretched to say say the least, delivery can take a bit longer by this service.

Whether you wear your wellies for walking your dog, singing in the rain or for digging up your potatoes there is always a good reason to put your wellies on. The story below is a another very good reason!

————————————————————–

Wellington boots save Croydon man struck by lightning
Thursday, November 10, 2011Croydon AdvertiserFollow
A FORMER Croydon Schools star player had his Wellington – rather than football – boots to thank when he was struck by lightning.

Ian Thomas made his usual early morning trip to feed his animals last Monday when he was thrown violently to the ground.

Stunned and lying in agony, the 64-year-old had to grab hold of Monty, his large black schnauzer, who helped him struggle back to the house.

His wife Sharen rushed him to hospital, fearing he had suffered a stroke or a heart attack.

An hour or two later and after a series of check-ups, including an MRI scan and an ECG, Mr Thomas was diagnosed as having been struck by lightning.

The Crystal Palace fan said: “I was walking along carrying a metal bowl when I had what seemed like an explosion in my head, and at the same moment I heard the dog scream.

“I saw my legs thrown into the air in front of me and I was thrown into the air. It didn’t make any sense.

“Some time later I came to my senses and found myself curled up in a ball on the ground.

“I knew I wasn’t dead because the pain was so bad.”

Mr Thomas, who now lives in Redruth, Cornwall, but considers himself “Croydon bred and buttered”, then grabbed hold of his dog who dragged him home.

Recalling the horror Mrs Thomas said: “I thought he had had a heart attack.

“The consultant said that if he hadn’t been wearing wellies, it could have been a different story.”

Mr Thomas spent four days in the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, where he said the treatment was “outstanding”. He did feel a bit like an exhibit, though, as medical students and even the ward cleaner wanted to hear his story.

All he has to remind himself of the incident are marks on his head and hip – entry and exit marks – and a letter from his consultant signing him off work because of “lightning strike”.

Mr Thomas, a father-of-four, was born in Merebank Lane, Waddon, but moved to Cornwall three decades ago. He is now mayor of Redruth.

Prior to moving to the West Country he played for various local sports teams in Croydon and even represented the country at judo.

All of his children were born in Croydon. His daughter Marcelle Lee still lives in New Addington and his son Gavin Thomas lives in Kenley.

As the countdown to Christmas begins and we start racing around packing wellies like mad, the old adage “More Speed Less Haste” becomes extremely relevant.
Looking back to last year when we were packing wellies at all hours to get them out of the door for snowed in people for Christmas, I can remember falling about laughing as we made the funniest mistakes.
Things like; packing the paperwork into a mail bag and then throwing the wellies onto the pile of parcels, and my dad’s comb-over flying from one side of his head to the other as he searched wildly about for the next pair of wellies to pack!
In our haste to get all of the orders dispatched we did the funniest things and had the biggest laugh! Hopefully we will be just as busy this year!
So roll up, roll up! Don’t wait until you are snowed-in to order!

Here’s a good scenario for a monday morning! Something I found on Yahoo Answers…

If you fell into deep water while wearing a pair of wellies, would they drag you down or would they fall off and sink? The most likely answer is that they would drag you down and that is why canoeists are discouraged from wearing wellington boots.

On the upside, if you could manage to take your wellies off your feet and tipped all the water out, you could then use them as floats under each arm. This could be achieved by positioning the boots so that the soles point towards the sky, thus trapping the air in the boots, making them makeshift floats.

Brits do love any opportunity to put on a pair of funky wellies, especially for a good cause. I still believe this is a very British phenomenon from a childhood filled with special wellies (I’m sure I’m not the only one who wore my favorite yellow wellies to bed when I was four). You can probably also think of countless story books about a child and their wellies.

Since working with wearyourwellies.com we have realised just how many people use wearing wellies as a fundraising tool.
I have added a few recent projects (in my own words ) below. Hopefully, they will inspire you!

The most recent post I found was about a group of people, over 80 adults and children raised over £2000 for the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity by walking around Danbury Park’s ancient woodlands.

I also found lots of sponsored welly walks organised by numerous primary schools to raise money for their schools. The walks always seem to be a huge success and a lot of fun.

If you would like to organise a similar event for a charity, take a look a these two great websites to help people raise money for charity: justgiving.com and simplygiving.com.
My neighbour shaved his head for Meningitis research and raised over £1000 VERY quickly. He was very surprised by the amount he raised and how easy it was and we were very surprised by his new look, which really suits him!
